Chimney flue lining for gas stoves

We install stoves every day of the week.  We are often asked if they need lining to conform to building regulations.  About 85% of the stoves we install are fitted with flexible twin wall liners. All gas stoves should be installed with a flexible liner.

One of the images shows a chimney stack that failed its chimney sweeping test.  This chimney was lined after the stack was repaired, as it was also unstable.  Gas fires cause condensation that is acidic which deteriorates the inside of the stack.  Over time, this can let in water at the top of the stack which leads to examples of stacks becoming very unstable.

Some tall flue systems may need a spinning cowl with the lining system to help the cooler gases from a gas stove travel up the flexible liner.  These spin with wind speeds of as low as 1 mph and aids the draw of the fumes out of the system.

Issues that increase a chimney having anti-static down draft issues are:

-   Tall building around a property
-   Near by trees that are taller than the chimney stack
-   Geographical location, for example, being at the top or bottom of a hill
-   Cold flues
-   External chimneys stacks or tall chimney stacks.

We have our own scaffold towers that we can use, which avoids the large cost of hiring scaffolding. This means that we can work to heights of up to 14m.

Our installers are Pasma trained and registered.
