Hearth templating service
Wood burning and multi-fuel stoves and fireplaces all require a hearth to be installed.
We offer a templating service where we can visit your home to measure for a templated hearth to be made. This is then sent away to our stonemasons to be made for you.
You can have a T-shape hearth, rounded corners, boxed flush risers or boxed and lipped risers to name a few options. We make hearths that comply with building regulations for stoves and fireplaces that use either gas or solid fuel.
We can make any size hearth to deal with your individual requirements.
We make 3 piece hearths that are reassembled in the manufacturing process and are suitable for solid fuel fires or stoves, these are called expansion joints and stop the hearth from cracking. If you use a 1-piece hearth designed for a gas fire, it will crack under the high hearth temperatures created by solid fuel.
When making hearths for use with stoves, we can advise if you can have a 1 piece hearth or if you will need a 3 piece hearth. If the appliance does not exceed the hearth temperatures to exceed 100ºC, a decorative hearth can be in one section.
Common materials used for hearths are smooth honed slate, textured riven slate, black granite for solid fuel fires or gas fires.
The constructional hearth in front of your fireplace can sometimes need repairing or replacing. We can include this work as part of our service.
