Insulated twin wall chimney flue systems
If you have no chimney in your home, an insulated twin wall system is what you need us to install for you. The flue systems are installed inside or outside of a building. We install twin wall systems to allow an open fire or
stove to be used where there is part of an existing chimney, or no chimney in place.
It has two stainless steel skins with insulation in the middle, this allows it to be much closer to combustible materials, for example, through loft spaces, joist and rafters. They have a clearance of 50mm to flamible materials like wooden rafters and joists. You are allowed to have a maximum of four 45 degree bends on a lining system. If there are more the flue gases would be slowed down too much and the chimney lining system would not draw properly.
We prefer to use the best metal chimney manufacturer called
Poujoulat, as they are strong, durable and the premier flue manufacturer. Because we install most wood burning stoves with their system, we are able to pass on the savings to our customers.
Building regulations for Insulated Twin Wall systems.
Our chimney lining experts install insulated twin wall systems within 50mm of combustible materials like wooden joists and rafters, as the products are the best quality. Flue systems have to be a minimum of 4.5 meters. If the flue system is within 2.3 meters from a building, you are allowed to finish the system 1000mm above the nearest window, or 600mm above the ridge. If you are terminating the flue through a pitched roof and within 600mm of the ridge, you must have the flue terminating either at least the height or 600mm of the ridge. If you are 600mm outside of the ridge, the flue system must terminate at least 1000mm above the weathered surface or the nearest window.
Our
HETAS registered chimney specialists will complete a site survey to work out the best route, correct sizing to enable the flue to draw properly. Our considerations are the height of the building, geographical conditions, the appliance and Section J of Building Regulations. Access for installing the system with minimal disruption will also be noted on the survey. We have our own scaffold towers, which takes away the cost of expensive scaffolding.
In addition to being installed in period homes and new builds, insulated twin wall chimney flue systems are used in log cabins, wooden sheds summerhouses and garages, outbuildings and extensions, barges and boats, industrial units, pubs and restaurants.
The systems are HETAS approved, as are our installations. You do not need to apply to your local authority for planning permission as we sign off our installations, saving you on average around £300 and the time dealing with your local council and building control applications.
