Can I have a limestone hearth installed when I have my solid fuel fireplace or wood burning stove fitted?

In almost every glossy magazine these days you will see fantastic mock up installations of stoves with white hearths, particularly limestone and sand stone. These look great to start with but will soon tarnish when the ash or smokeless fuels fall on to it.

There are some man made solutions that are not porous and look good and wont absorb the dust, but limestone is a natural materials with faults and fossils in it. It is a brittle material and absorbs moisture very easily, so if drinks are spilled, these will stain the hearth. We have samples of the most popular types of hearth material at our showroom, so feel free to come and have a look up close.

Popular hearth materials are natural smooth honed slate, textured Riven slate and black granite. We make all our hearths to order, so can make any size that is required.
