Frequently Asked Questions

<< previous question

Can you install lintels in my chimney breast?

The Cast Iron Fireplace Company under takes all brick work issues you may have from installing lintel’s to fixing broken midfeathers that separate flues.

Lintels are normally above the builders opening in the form of a soldier course of bricks, these are stood length ways upright. Often the metal arched cast iron strap is missing and or the mortar in between the soldier course has deteriorated, making the lintel unsafe. As part of our service our chimney lining experts can install lintels for you.

On the survey we may find that the top courses of bricks are loose and the chimney pots and the flaunching have deteriorated. Our fitters can fix this on the day of installation, minimalising any disruption to your busy schedule.
Sometimes you may find that you have the rear of the fireplace has been subjected to heat over the years and is cracked, we can advise on our site survey if this need bricking up or rendering with a sand, cement and lime render.
