Frequently Asked Questions

<< previous question

So I want to burn solid fuel, and I live in a smoke control area. What fireplace do you recommend?

Before installing any fireplace,we always recommend you have your chimney swept and have an intergrity test done.

An antique fireplace can burn smoke free solid fuel as long as you have the grill, grate and ashpan.

All of our reproduction fireplaces come with solid fuel fire brick and ashpan, as an extra.  The baskets we sell come with a choice of gas fire to fit.

Alternatively, stoves are a very popular choice, and are very efficient with heat and fuel use.  You can choose a wood burning stove or Multi fuel stove depending on your preference of fuel.

See our Smokeless Stoves listed on our website under stoves.  They has been authorised and approved by DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) for use in Smoke Control Areas.
