We are a HETAS registered company
We are one of very few companies who offer chimney lining using more than one type of chimney lining solution. As well as twin wall flexible liners, we install insulated twin wall systems and the Eldfast ceramic lining system, all of which are HETAS approved chimney lining systems.
All our fitters are HETAS registered and only work for our company. Our staff are trained for a minimum of two years before we send them to HETAS for their official training and testing. Our work is then inspected by HETAS each year, providing our customers with confidence that their installation has been certified by a Competent Person.
Our customers save time and money by using our chimney lining company, avoiding the need for building control’s approval when installing lining systems, stoves and fireplaces being used with solid fuel (if using building control this can cost up to £400 for each installation). We are often asked to help people after they have bought a cheap quality flexible or twin wall liner online and have had their DIY installation or lining attempt disapproved by building control. Many websites claim fitting a wood burning stove or fireplace is a DIY project, which is not the case. Always seek a professional company with years of experience and knowledge like ours to complete and sign off your installation. It will save you money in the long run and provide you with a safe installation by a HETAS approved company with knowledgeable staff who are polite and always contactable after an installation. Please click here to read the ‘What can go wrong when installing a wood burning stove yourself?’ page on our FAQ’s page.
After the installation we issue a data plate along with a Certificate of Compliance to our customers. Another copy is sent to HETAS who in turn notifies your local building control that the installation has been completed by one of our competent persons.
We have 10 million pounds Public Liability Insurance, exceeding the HETAS minimal requirements by 5 times, as the basic required is 2 million pounds. We do this because we work in old properties and want to make sure our customers have peace of mind when using our services.
We are members of HETAS Solid Fuel Registered Engineers to carry out work in the following categories:
Installation of appliances and hot water systems (stoves with back boilers)
Installation of dry appliances (solid fuel fires and stoves)
Service and maintenance of appliances
Installation of twin wall flexible liners
Installation of Insulated Twin Wall systems (metal)
Eldfast Ceramic Lining system
Any person claiming to be HETAS registered will be able to give you their HETAS company registration number and/or their engineer’s registration number. You can check these on the HETAS
Installations of solid fuel and wood biomass appliances and systems are subject to the requirements of Building Regulations and as such you are required to notify the Local Authority by law. HETAS registered installers can self-certificate their work thus avoiding the need for costly and time-consuming Building Notice Applications to the local Building Control Department.
HETAS Registered Businesses leave the customer with a Compliance Certificate and send a copy to HETAS for onward notification to the Local Authority. This is a simple and effective process costing a few pounds whereas the Local Authority Building Notice can cost, in some cases, hundreds of pounds.
The Certificates issued by HETAS and the notifications to Local Authority are important records demonstrating that the work was carried out legally and by registered competent businesses and individuals with records that the registered business carried out the work in accordance with Building Regulations. When people sell their houses, the information about work carried out under the Building Regulations in England & Wales is used by Solicitors on their inquiry forms and failure to demonstrate compliant work, where applicable, can adversely affect the sale of properties. The information gathered in this way may be used in any future home information pack (HIP) requirement; Local Authorities are already required by law to hold such information. We are a HETAS registered company.
