The Ecofan 800 wood stove fan in black and gold
How do I know if my stove is too hot for an Ecofan? We recommend the use of a stovetop Calfire thermometer to ensure good wood-stove safety. This is a simple magnetic invention that can easily be attached to your flue pipe to monitor the temperature of your stove. A Calfire thermometer has two purposes: 1) saving money by making you aware of wasted energy; and 2) ensures the longevity of your Eco Fan.

The Calfire Ecofan has a heat sensitive spring on it's base and this has been designed to gently tilt the fan as your stove's temperature increases. No tilt or a small tilt (the gap between the front of the Ecofan base and stove) of up to 2mm or 1/16" is good. A large tilt over 5mm or 3/16" means your stove is too hot and you should remove your Ecofan until your stove has cooled down.
A recent scientific study showed that they saved 14% of fuel costs. The purpose of the study was to see if a Eco fan could reduce the amount of fuel used to maintain a human level of comfort at 22.5 degrees centigrade, the results were amazing. Ecofans are a must have for all wood burning stove owners. We love the Ecofans!
