The black granite slip under

This can be used to create a back hearth behind a hearth, so that the black granite continues under the fireplace, but it is not advisible to use these with solid fuel fires as they need to be cut into a minimum of 3 sections to allow for the expansion caused by the heat. The usual method is to use sand and cement and lime render under the grate and spray it black.

These are only sold when bought with a hearth.
