STRAW LOGS – ECO FRIENDLY – LONGER LASTING AND LESS EXPENSIVE THAN NORMAL LOGS
FREE DELIVERY ON ALL STRAWS LOGS TO UK MAINLAND. Unfortunately we cannot deliver our Straws logs to the rest of the UK.
With the explosion of wood-burning stoves onto an already established marketplace and anxiety over the limitation on the availability and sustainability of local wood, it is opportune time to seek a complimentary or alternative fuel to wood.
“Straws” is such a fuel. It provides high energy from an annually renewable source which meets all ecological, economic and practical requirements for the consumer.
When you first pick up a “Straws” the first thing you notice is the weight. The straw has been compressed to an impressive 1300kg per cubic meter as compared to Oak (one of the denser woods) at approx 450kg (assuming minimal moisture content of approx 20%).
“Straws” contain less than 5% moisture, so the combination of density and dryness, gives a wonderfully hot and long burn. The minimal moisture in the Straws is quickly vaporised, creating no negative activity in the flue - a fact supported by the many members of the National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NACS) with whom we are associated.
The packaging of the logs provides a clean, easy to handle and stack product which is not volatile when stored close to heat.
“Straws” require a firelighter to start but when burning does not split, spit or expand and performs the same, every time. No more burning wet wood !
“Straws” are a 100% natural product made from straw with no additives. Each log will burn for approx 3 hours and will generate 5kw during the burn time. It can also be shown as giving out 7 times the heat from its equivalent weight of wet wood and approx 3-5 times the heat from seasoned wood.
The log flame will last for 30 to 60 minutes, but it continues to glow, burning through the compacted layers for the rest of the burn time, still giving out impressive heat.
“Straws” are good value for money, as you require less logs to achieve a greater heat than with wood, with all the cleanliness, convenience and conservancy which go with it.
So to re-cap:
-
Straws are a natural product manufactured in Britain from an annually renewable crop
-
Straws are ideal for open fires, stoves and chimineas
-
Straws are a hi-energy heat source so you would require less product to achieve the same heat
-
Straws are clean, easy to handle and easy to store and do not expand or spit whilst burning
-
Straws give a reliable performance every time, regardless of when and in whatever volume it is purchased

How to light Straws with the paper wrapping intact!
Step 1: Level ash to create a good bed for the fire
Step 2: Place the label on ash to reduce air flow and extending burn time
Step 3: Place 4/5 sticks of kindling on the label against the back of the fire
Step 4: Place fire lighter on label underneath the kindling
Step 5: Light fire lighter
Steps 6, 7, 8: Add Straws (with brown paper intact) cautiously over the fire lighter and resting on the kindling to create a good air space for the flame to ignite the Straws. Then add Straws as required.
Do not over fill your fire. Straws looks small but generate more heat than wood. Each log is 5Kwh of energy. |
