We were extremely happy Andy joined us in December 2010 in the middle of last year’s hectic peak season. He is our very own handy Andy!
He passed his initial trial with us, where he had to demonstrate that he has a understanding of site safety, brickwork, customer service and attention to detail when working with our HETAS registered chimney experts. He always has a smile, even when working in inclement weather conditions, and we have been very impressed with his ‘can do’ attitude.
Andy is a father of two and, outside of his hectic work schedule, he enjoys nothing better than spending quality time with them. Not forgetting his faithful Staffie with whom he spends many hours getting out and about.
He is currently undergoing our HETAS training scheme which lasts two years. He will be learning the art of installing woodburning stoves and chimney re-lining. During this training he will be perfecting everything to do with fitting woodburning stoves including insulated twin wall systems that are used for those who do not have a chimney breast.
Andy, also known as ‘Drew’, has been learning the ropes installing the Eldfast ceramic lining system with our qualified fitters. This lining system is the best optin for leaking chimneys. He will be approved to sign off in his own right in two years time once he passes his HETAS training - applicants are required to achieve 100% accuracy in both the practical and theory tests.
As all our other fitters, Andy was put through PASMA training by The Cast Iron Fireplace Company. PASMA stands for Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association. It provides and governs the industry’s standard training scheme for mobile access towers. Standard and advanced courses deliver proficiency and competence as required by the Work at Height Regulations. For many, the PASMA certificate and ID card are the only acceptable proof of competence.
In the time Andy has been with us he has shown himself to be an honest, hard working guy, who always has our customers’ best interests at heart. We are very proud that he is a member of our team.
