Andy started off his career as an electrician, ‘Sparkie’, for ten years, and then diversified as a general builder for five years working on building extensions and renovations, before finally ending up at The Cast Iron Fireplace Company as a ‘Jack’ of all trades. He is a popular member of the team as he is hardworking and has an eye for detail - customer’s appreciate his efforts to leave their property clean and tidy.
Andy joined us in 2009 working on all aspects of fireplace installations, which includes:- stoves and fireplaces, flexible liners, insulated twin wall systems and the Eldfast ceramic lining. His knowledge and interest of how houses are built from the blueprints has indeed helped him to understand and apply the best way forward to install a twin wall flue system – there are many companies that simply do not have this foresight, or background, to achieve the perfect method of installation.
Andy is our Onsite Manager, he is in charge of the fitting teams and also completes surveys for our company.
Andy is always the optimist – with his “my glass is half full” attitude, as opposed to ‘half empty’ - which makes him a great guy to work with.
In May 2011 Andy passed his official HETAS testing and now signs off his own installations. He is also one of our Eldfast ceramic lining installers and a member of our chimney CCTV inspection team. Andy is able to diagnose problems within any chimney using our ‘state of the art’ specialist CCTV chimney equipment and how to resolve those problems, no matter how seriously they are leaking.
Like all our fitters Andy is PASMA trained. PASMA stands for Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association. It provides and governs the industry standard training scheme for mobile access towers. Standard and advanced courses deliver proficiency and competence as required by the Work at Height Regulations. For many, the PASMA certificate and ID card are the only acceptable proof of competence.
Andy, also a family man, has a gorgeous daughter and his interests lie in motor sports, particularly touring cars. Another passion of his is working on his own house and, of course, using his own wood burning stove!
